Women’s Heart Healthy Cooking School Returns in March

Is the food selection around your family’s dinner table getting stale? Don’t settle for easy fixes; let Mercy dietitians help rescue your palate and keep your heart health in check.

Starting March 3, 2015, and continuing the first Tuesday of each month, Mercy Women’s Heart Center will offer convenient evening cooking school courses covering a variety topics, including lower sodium Asian, vegetarian, Italian and crock pot meals. Registered dietitians prepare the fresh meals in a kitchenette and provide samples to attendees.

One key ingredient: in-depth discussion from start to finish. Attendees can expect to learn about nutritional guidelines and recommendations, recipe selection and modification tips, as well as basic cooking guidance. Recipes are then printed off and sent home so families can integrate fresh ideas into their meals.

Classes cost $10 each; credit or debit cards are accepted. Cooking school is in session the first Tuesday of each month from 5:30-6:45 p.m. inside the Hammons Heart Institute (1325 E. Cherokee). Check out the 2015 calendar of meals here.

To register, call (417) 820-3666 or 800-200-9000. Classes fill up quickly so call today to register.
