“The Big Lot” Presents Check to Mercy
For the second year in a row, Reliable Chevrolet, Elite Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti of Springfield held the “May is for Mercy” promotion, pledging to donate $50 for every vehicle sold during the month of May. For Reliable Chevrolet’s Brent Singley, this fundraiser has special meaning. “I am blessed we have three healthy young men as my sons, but I will always remember the time two of them spent in the NICU,” he explained.
Phase II of the new NICU expands the unit to 46 beds. The former 28-bed NICU was one large room with infant beds sharing space with family members, scrub areas and the nurses’ stations. The new unit features individual family rooms – including larger “twin” rooms for multiple-birth families.
Large sliding glass doors and the latest technology mean nurses can still keep a constant watch over the babies, but families will also have the room they need to sit quietly with their newborns. Phase II is set for completion this winter.
