Mercy to Host “Sounds of Christmas” Holiday Concert
Mercy is pleased to announce it will host “Sounds of Christmas” at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, in the St. John’s Chapel. The Messiah Project, a Christian fine arts organization based in Springfield, will present the Forum Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra, of Krakow, Poland.
The “Christmas Around the World” performance will feature a variety of music, including Polish and international carols, as well as new and classic Christmas music. It will be led by Steven Byess, who has conducted more than 300 performances of 40 diverse operas, operettas and musical theatre works. He was also chosen by Walt Disney World Entertainment to conduct the 2000 Super Bowl halftime show.
The orchestra, founded in 1993, features an ensemble of members who’ve given prize-winning performances throughout Europe and the United States. Their repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary compositions.
