We invite you to join our support session on Tuesday, Nov. 12, to learn and share practical ways to observe the holidays during this tough time. Our bereavement team will offer relaxation techniques and a discussion on stress relief. There will also be suggestions on making the season meaningful for you and your family, and including the memory of your loved one in all that you do.
“Under normal circumstances, the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are times when stress and emotions are accentuated by expectations of others,” said Sister Liz Koehler, bereavement coordinator at Mercy. “When grieving, we are even more vulnerable to these expectations and the support and prayers of others are helpful.”
Chaplains at Mercy care for the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and family members during a hospital stay. This compassionate care continues through Mercy’s bereavement ministry. The Pastoral Services department follows up with phone calls offering resources including support groups, memorial services, continued prayer and occasional presentations about grief.
Our support session will take place Tuesday, Nov. 12, on the second floor of the C.H. Chub O’Reilly Cancer Center at 2055 S. Fremont Ave. Just look for the support group room. The hour-and-a-half session will start at 10 a.m. The same session will be offered again at the same location at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14.
While the sessions are free, seating is limited, so please call 417-820-2735 or email Elizabeth [dot] Koehlermercy [dot] net to reserve a space.Show EMS Sitewide:
