Mercy Day is September 24

Mercy Day – September 24 – is the anniversary of the opening of the first “House of Mercy” in 1827 in Dublin, Ireland. Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy, devoted her life to the poor, sick and uneducated, and today we continue her legacy of caring and compassion in the name of Mercy.

In celebration of Mercy Day this year, we are asking all coworkers to look around and recognize the vast number of Saints Among Us! These are people who, in the ordinary course of the day, exhibit extraordinary acts of generosity and kindness to others! Are you a saint for someone else? In her day, Catherine McAuley relied heavily on the openness of hearts and hands from her family and friends. Without their acts of selflessness, the House of Mercy would have never had the chance to help the thousands of women and children in Dublin, and the millions around the world! We all have our Saints Among Us!
