Homeschool Health Fair at Mercy College of Nursing

Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences of Southwest Baptist University is hosting the 8th Annual Homeschool Health and Science Exploration Fair from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the College in Springfield.Pre-registration is NOT required. The free event for homeschooled children in southwest Missouri includes:
Health screenings — Height, weight, body mass index and blood pressure measurements; hearing and vision testing; dental screenings; flu vaccines offered (if available); scoliosis screenings, recommended for grades 4-9. (It is recommended for girls to wear a sports bra or bathing suit under their top for the scoliosis screening.) Interactive experiences in anatomy and physiology, microbiology and chemistry, hosted by SBU biology faculty. Educational opportunities — Handwashing/illness prevention; diabetes and obesity education; nutrition and healthy eating education; sports and physical activity education; and kid safety education. Demonstration of a medical simulation mannequin. Lifetouch photographer on site for school pictures. Scholastic Book Club fair with a display of children’s books for sale.The College is at 4431 S.
