Help Mercy Eye Clinic Name its New Mascot

If you keep your eyes peeled, you may see Mercy Eye Clinic's new mascot around Springfield! It's unlike any other character you'll see, simply because we sewed it on our own; we enlised the help of a local seamstress who cares about eye care and education as much as we do. Now we need the public's help giving our new friend a name. Join us for a Facebook contest, Tuesday, July 15 through Friday, August 8. Here are the terms and conditions:

Prizes

The prize includes a $250 Mercy Optical Shop Gift Certificate (can be used for eye glasses, contact lenses, sunglasses or more), and a free LASIK surgery evaluation with Dr. Shachar Tauber. Prizes cannot be transferred, substituted or redeemed for cash. Mercy reserves the right to substitute a prize, or portions thereof, with a prize of equal or greater value.

Who may enter

This contest is open to legal residents of Springfield, Mo. and surrounding communities no farther than 150 miles, who are 18 years old or older. By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest and further agrees that Mercy may rely on the contestant’s representation that he or she is 18 years old or older, is a legal resident of the area listed above. Mercy employees and their immediate families are eligible to enter. Contestants may submit multiple entries.

How to enter

The contestant must “like” the Mercy Facebook Page (http://facebook.com/MercyHealth) and leave a comment beneath the eyeball mascot photo, submitting a unique name he or she feels best describes the character. All entries must comply with Facebook’s Terms and Policies.  In addition, entries that do not conform to the spirit of the contest will be disqualified.  This includes, but is not limited to, posts that portray: any bodily harm to any human or animal; any damage to property, private or public; trespassing; anything of a sexual nature, directly or by innuendo; or anything unlawful, false, misleading, threatening, abusive, tortious, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive, or otherwise objectionable in the sole judgment of the managers of the Mercy Facebook Page. Mercy reserves the right to disqualify contestants.

Entry deadline

Submissions from contestants must be posted between 12:01:00 a.m. Central Daylight Time on July 15, 2014 and 11:59:59 p.m. Central Daylight Time on August 8, 2014.

Winner selection

The winning name and winning respondent will be chosen by a review team comprised of co-workers from Mercy Clinic Eye Specialists. The winner will be reached via direct message on Facebook prior to being announced publicly at the Springfield Cardinals baseball game on Saturday, August 16, 2014. The winner will have the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at the game. All prize submissions will be date stamped and, in the event of duplicate entries of the winning name, the first respondent will be awarded the prize. If the winner is under age 18, parental consent is needed for the free LASIK surgery evaluation. Winner will be expected to appear in photographs and advertising associated with their winning entry. He or she will need to provide a permanent address so the prize can be sent via U.S. mail.

Release, Indemnity and Hold Harmless

By submitting an entry, each contestant completely releases, and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless, each of Mercy and Facebook, and their respective affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents (“Released Parties”), from any and all liability whatsoever, and waives any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses, or damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the contest or the delivery, misdelivery, acceptance, possession, use of or inability to use any prize (including, without limitation, claims, costs, injuries, losses and damages related to personal injuries, death, damage to or destruction of property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light, whether intentional or unintentional), whether under a theory of contract, tort (including negligence), warranty or other theory.  None of the Released Parties shall be responsible for: (a) any late, lost, misrouted, garbled or distorted or damaged entries; (b) any contest disruptions, injuries, losses or damages caused by events beyond their control; or (c) any errors in any materials associated with the contest.
